PREPARING FOR CAMP CADET
During the weeks leading up to camp, cadets are encouraged to adopt a training regimen of physical activity and exercise to help condition their bodies and elevate cardiovascular endurance. This is important to minimize the shock that cadets may feel when they come to camp and are expected to perform physically.
Cadets who do not prepare are often overwhelmed initially by the amount of physical activity that we require. We're not saying that they need to become athletes or join a gym, but introducing basic exercises into their daily routine is strongly recommended.
Some examples of appropriate exercises include:
Additionally, we feel that a healthy diet goes hand-in-hand with an exercise routine. Without proper nutrition, physical development/improvement can be nearly impossible. During the week of camp, cadets will have their physical endurance levels pushed to the limit and will only be able to eat approved food at very specific times.
To prepare for this, we recommend the following dietary adjustments:

- Jogging/running at a brisk pace
- Jumping jacks
- Jump rope
- Push-ups
- Sit-ups
- Burpees

During the week of camp, cadets will have their physical endurance levels pushed to the limit and will only be able to eat approved food at very specific times.
To prepare for this, we recommend the following dietary adjustments:
- Eliminate sweets and salty snacks.
- Limit snacking between meals.
- Eliminate drinks with a lot of sugar and little nutritional value.
- Learn to properly hydrate with water only. This is especially important during exercise and prolonged exposure to hot conditions - even if you don't feel thirsty.
- Eat healthy snacks with natural fructose sources, such as fruits and vegetables.
